Our Story
From the Homestead to the Kingdom
We’re Stephanie and José, the husband and wife team behind Kingdom Domes.
Our story didn’t start with a dome retreat. It started with a desire to live a little differently.
After years of the fast pace, traffic, and constant hustle of life in New Jersey, we made the move to Vermont and began building Maple Mountain Homestead. What started as a piece of land and a lot to learn gradually became our home, a regenerative homestead, and a place where we could spend more of our lives in nature.
Over the years, we planted gardens and a food forest, raised animals, learned new skills, made plenty of mistakes, and slowly created a lifestyle centered around nature, self sufficiency, and enjoying the land around us.
But stewarding the land isn't our only reason for being outside.
We’d Rather Be Outside
Some of our favorite memories have come from simply getting out and exploring.
Mountain biking through the woods. Kayaking on a quiet lake. Snowboarding after a fresh snowfall. Hiking somewhere new. Sitting around a fire at the end of a long day.
We love the kind of days when you're outside for hours, come back completely exhausted, and can't wait for a hot shower, a good meal, and a comfortable place to relax.
And that became a big part of the idea behind Kingdom Domes.

We love the kind of days when you're outside for hours, come back completely exhausted, and can't wait for a hot shower, a good meal, and a comfortable place to relax.
And that became a big part of the idea behind Kingdom Domes.
It Started With One Dome
At Maple Mountain Homestead, we built our first off grid geodesic dome as a farm stay.
It was simple, cozy, and surrounded by nature. Guests could step away from their normal routines, slow down, and experience a different side of Vermont.
Hosting that first dome taught us something important: people want to reconnect with nature, but that doesn't necessarily mean they want to rough it.
Neither do we.
We love camping and being outside, but after a full day of adventure, there's something pretty great about climbing into a comfortable bed.
That experience planted the seed for something bigger.
Why the Northeast Kingdom
Then there's Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
It's one of those places that makes you want to stay outside all day.
Between the mountain biking at Kingdom Trails, kayaking and swimming around Lake Willoughby, hiking through the mountains, and skiing and snowboarding at Burke Mountain, there always seems to be another reason to explore.
We kept coming back to the same thought:
This is exactly where we would want to stay.
Not a traditional hotel.
Not an ultra luxury resort.
And not necessarily a tent on the ground either.
We wanted a comfortable home base surrounded by the woods where we could wake up and head straight into an adventure, have somewhere relaxing to come back to afterward, and maybe even meet a few other adventurers along the way.
So we decided to build it.
Welcome to Kingdom Domes
Kingdom Domes is our take on the kind of Vermont getaway we'd want for ourselves.
A cozy dome surrounded by the forest. A comfortable bed waiting after a long day outside. Your own wood fired hot tub warming up while you make dinner. A sauna when your whole body is tired from riding, paddling, hiking, or skiing. A fire pit for slowing things down at the end of the night.
Nothing overly fancy.
Just the comforts that matter, in a place that makes you want to get outside.
We're building Kingdom Domes for couples, friends, families, groups, and fellow adventurers who love nature but also appreciate being comfortable at the end of the day. We hope it becomes a place where people not only experience the Northeast Kingdom, but cross paths with others who share that same love of being outside.
A place to explore more, slow down, reconnect, meet other adventurers, and experience the Northeast Kingdom the way we love it.
Adventure by day. Relaxation by night.
Camping, upgraded.
Welcome to the Kingdom
